Painting the Town Red Today... in an Apron?

  Happy Valentine's Day
from Lit Chicks Dish!

Remember a while back when womenfolk were regularly seen wearing slips and lingerie out and about, to parties and public places?  I'm trying to forget too.  That wasn't my best look, either.  And I never even left the house.  Nevertheless, I have to ask, if nightgowns and PajamaJeans have been deemed acceptable everydaywear why not aprons?

Well, if it does catch on, hopefully people will continue to wear the slip at least.  This trend may be coming to stores near you courtesy of Fashion Week.

Apron-inspired looks have one risk: They can hit too close to home, leaving the wearer looking like a June Cleaver wannabe. Some of the more costume-like looks will likely be modified before they hit stores.

Perhaps the fashionable this Spring/Summer will take style notes from the Apron's humble beginnings and be more nun-like (nun-sense, surely), with a marriage of long billowy dresses with apron-style trimmings and functionality?

I know, the whole idea is a little far-fetched.  But, think of the possible advantages.  With some additional pockets, kitchen utensils may now be used for self defense purposes away from the comforts of home.  And, now that people are cooking at home more, what a convenience will it be to have the ability to come straight from the pool in your apron-y cover-up to whip up a fantastic meal and/or dessert.  Then, faster than a Wonder Woman quick change, you could cool off after slaving away at the stove by jumping right back into the pool again? (We're all poor, so pool should possibly read bathtub?)  Sure, the look may be a little costume-y but with one less article of clothing in the equation there would be less daily costume changes involved when all is said and done.

What do you think?  Could you see yourself falling in love with this look?

How about this one?

Whether you're just going to wear one while cooking tonight or wear it out to your favorite restaurant, make 'em do a double-take with Flirty Aprons and some Apron Allure.
